Rich and diversified collections
In the big tradition of the maritime museums, the Museum of the fishing present a rich collection of mockups.

Objects witnesses of the life of the sailors: some examples
During all first half of the XX-th century, the fishermen of tuna, who had no rubber boots, used a model of hoofs - boots which one can see to the Museum: it is about real hoofs of wood heightened by leather: very heavy objects, which did not facilitate the work of the sailors!
The Museum also presents a real doris. These small boats were of use to the fishing in the cod. They were embarked aboard fishing ships, which put them in the water every morning for a long day of fishing. The doris of the Museum, who testifies of the life of these sailors, is one of the last vestiges of this particularly dangerous fishing.

The Museum possesses a specimen of coelacanth: this fish belongs to a sort which one considered disappeared until in 1938 an African fisherman returns one, living well, in his nets. The sort little evolved since 350 million years, what does coelacanths of real alive fossils: their study allowed to demonstrate that they are a link between fishes and amphibians. The coelacanth of the Museum was fished by 150 metres of bottom one night of March, 1969 to Dzahadjou in Grande Comore. It is exposed for more than thirty years in its bath of formalin.
The Neptune François is the very first French collection of sea charts. Published in 1691, it takes the name of Neptune, in reference to the collections of ground cards, which honour the god Atlas. The statements had begun under Colbert, and were finished 30 years later: the Neptune François covers in 28 cards, the coasts of Norway in the Strait of Gibraltar. After restoration, it reinstated at the end of March the collections of the Museum.
